sweet street, leeds

The proposal forms part of the Eastern Gateway of the Holbeck Urban Village Revised Framework (2006).

The scheme incorporates 744 residential units across 2 adjacent sites and ground floor commercial space. Each site comprises of 2 ā€˜Lā€™ shaped buildings forming a central raised landscaped courtyard with basement car park underneath.

The accomodation is for the private rental sector (PRS) and includes affordable housing.

The individual blocks vary in height (from 6 to 12 storeys) to maximise sunlight into the central courtyards whilst allowing the edge blocks to be dominant so
that they reinforce the traditional morphology of the area whilst enhancing the pedestrian flow and urban grain. Ground floor terraces provide active frontages to the street.

The building utilises a precast concrete frame which contains the apartment balconies and external cladding materials integral to precast concrete sandwich walls.
